Live tv on my G1?????

After reading a whole heap of articles getting me excited about being able to watch the beeb wherever (assuming theres wifi), on my G1, http://www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/live/tv/, it appears that although everywhere (mainly the reg) seems to clearly state the G1 is supported, hopefully im having a skillz failure but all I get is "Your device appears to be unable to support this service" if anyones had any success with this would be great to know...
